A Promise
A promise can be poison.
It can suffocate you slowly with it’s ability to make you believe in what can never be real. It can lead you to the edge, and make you jump into the myth that the fall won’t kill you. But, it will.
A promise can be poison. It will tell you what can never be followed thru, and make you not only trust it, but see it in your mind. In your heart. It will break you with it’s lies. And you’ll be the last to know.
A promise can be poison. It will taste sweet as sugar and then burn your throat when you repeat it. It will put acid in your veins, and make you hard. Make you cold to others touches.
But a promise can also be a cure. When it’s treated with respect, it treats the receiver with respect. It has a magic affect that can lift. It gives hope to the hopeful. To the hopeless. It is what we seek when we need. And we all are in need.
